Grade 2 Curriculum
LEaders in the lower school
Grade 2 students are the senior leaders of the Junior Building, taking pride in helping care for and strengthen their K–2 community.
As they prepare for the upper grades of the Lower School, students build greater confidence, and responsibility while continuing to learn the value of collaboration, kindness, and problem-solving together. Even as we support students, we also continue to emphasize the importance of thinking interdependently to solve academic, social, and community problems.
Growth and Curiosity
In the classroom, Grade 2 students take on increasingly sophisticated academic challenges in math, reading, and writing. With small class sizes and individualized support—especially in phonics and reading—teachers nurture each child’s unique growth and curiosity. Through investigation, play, and discovery, students begin to understand that meaningful learning comes from asking questions, exploring ideas, and persevering through challenges.
